Five Minute Friday: Stretch

Five Minute Friday

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

Stretch

The alarm goes off and I jolt awake. It’s a new day, and I stretch into it. Taking a deep breath and reaching my hands as high as I can and pushing my so down so far they flail out. I make myself as long as possible–stretching into this new day–wondering what it holds. After my stretch, my feet hit the floor and it starts.

It’s true about most things–you kinda have to stretch into them. Take that moment. That deep breath. Feel it from the tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes. Air expanding deep in your lungs.

A walk down the aisle, vows exchanged, more deep breaths and stretching of the heart to allow this one in. Forever.

One more deep breath, one more push, just a bit more stretching, and a baby is in my arms and I’m a Mommy.

Then my fingers hit the keyboard and I start writing.

Life is  like that. You just have to take that moment, that deep breath and stretch into it. And then…

Yes, stretching into them. And it’s much easier to go with it, than resist :-)

I loved this!! Such a beautiful picture of stretching to each new life stage. Thank the Lord He gives us strength and endurance to survive the initial newness of each new step. Stretching is such a blessing!

Absolutely! It is a blessing! What things we would miss out on if we weren’t willing to be stretched!

What a powerful way to start the day. This evoked so many images….pre-run, before the first step in a dance, before the bell rings, before the curtain lifts…
Lovely. I’m so glad I read your FMF.
    Peace and good to you

I love all those things you mentioned. I really take the stretch as the moment you envision what’s to come and then you just step into it.

I liked what you wrote. I like the freedom Friday brings as we participate in the fun of 5 Minute Friday. I like reading the different things everyone comes up with. I loved the suspense when you ended leaving me wondering what you would say next. But didn’t say!!
