There’s a fountain flowing Deep and Wide.

I remember singing that song as a child. Complete with hand motions and wondering at the same time why we were singing about a fountain of water at church. But it was a fun song so I sang along anyways.

Now I know, personally, just what sort of fountain I was singing about all those years ago. Not a fountain of water, but a fountain of love and grace and mercies new every morning.

This fountain flows abundantly to all who ask. It flows deep, and it flows wide. Covering my sin. Washing away my shame.
Cleansing me.
Making me new.
Whole.
Complete.

It’s a love so deep and wide I’ll never understand it. But I’m thankful. So thankful.

“How deep the Father’s love for us.

A wellspring of life indeed. I remember singing that as a child too. That and “I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me. Makes the lame to walk and the blind to see. Opens prison doors sets the captives free…” Those were fun hand motions too.
