Announcing (in)courage Community Group: (in)motherhood

(in)couraging new moms

I am stoked to announce that I will be co-hosting an (in)courage community group with my friend Crystal (jump over to her place and read her intro, too!)! The groups are organized around general life phases or experiences, and we’ve chosen to host new (and exptectant!) moms! Why? Because this is right where we are. Both of our children are under two, so we feel like we can totally relate. I’m excited to see what God is going to do with this group of women that He puts together. I’m also nervous that y’all are going to discover what a big dork I am.

Let me introduce myself just a bit in case you are new here:

My name is Mary Beth (yes double name, I’m from the South), and I am married to my wonderful husband Michael. Our son, Thomas, is 20 months old, and let me just tell you: He is the cutest thing ever. Seriously. I. adore. him. until he refuses to sleep and cries at my feet while I’m trying to cook supper. Then. not so much. Moving on…I suppose I classify myself as a stay-at-home mom although I do have a super super part time (as in 4-6 hours a week) job as a marriage and family counselor. If you’d like to read more about me, check out these posts:

Just to warn you up front, Crystal and I weren’t picked to host this group because we are some sort of super mom-Christian combo. Nope. We are just like you. Struggling every day to keep things going. We love Jesus. And we love our families. But we are far from perfect at living that out. Our prayer is that this group will be a place that we can learn, grow, and encourage each other as we do this mothering thing.

Our official group description:

Between piles of dirty clothes, diapers, toys, carseats, feedings, sleepless nights, child care options, trying to maintain a home and work (in some form or another) – we get “new moms!” We are blessed to feel called to encourage you! We’re going to keep it real as we share honestly about the highs and lows of motherhood, where God has called us to be, and how we are drawn to our knees daily to lift up our families – because the only perfect parent is our Father. We aren’t experts, but we’ve been there, – we ARE there — and we pray that we would be (in)couragers to new (and expectant!) moms as you walk through this season. We’re already praying for you!

If this sounds like you and you could use some encouragement, we invite you to join us! The groups will function mainly as a private Facebook group. We chose private so we could share freely–our thoughts, needs, prayers, and pics of our babes! We will also be checking in occasionally on Twitter with hashtag #(in)motherhood. To join, all you have to do is send us an e-mail, and we will give you instructions on how to join the group! You can email me at newlifesteward {at} gmail {dot} com or Crystal at crystal.stine {at} gmail {dot} com. We can’t wait to meet you!

If we don’t fit with where you are, check out this list at (in)courage to find a group to meet your needs!
