Personal Goals

I’ve decided to break my goals into four posts by categories:

  • Personal
  • Home
  • Marriage
  • Motherhood/Parenting

Today I’ll share my Personal Goals:

  1. Bible Study Fellowship: I just joined a class in January and LOVE it. They have excellent classes for children, too. My goal is to keep going!
  2. Serve others. ’nuff said.
  3. Memorize Scripture: this has always been hard for me! Any tips?
  4. Organize a housekeeping/homemaking book. I’ve got The Simple Mom‘s book, Organized Simplicity, so we will see if that helps!
  5. Read more (I have a list/plan I’ll share with you!)
  6. No TV during the day when Thomas is awake. (Already trying to put this into practice…SO HARD!)
  7. Start a blog…hey!
  8. Prayer time! I’m beginning to work on this by joining in with the MOB Society’s 21 Days of Prayer for Sons which starts TOMORROW! Check them out for more details. I’ll be blogging my journey so come back here too!

So there are my personal goals. Do you have any tips or advise for how you accomplish these things? What about how you work toward goals in general?

  1. I love the idea of making a homemaking book/binder. One resource I used to jumpstart my binder was from this blog post at passionatehomemaking: http://www.passionatehomemaking.com/2010/03/building-a-home-planning-notebook.html

I also try not to watch television while the girls are awake, and it is definitely hard.

Thanks for visiting the blog and the tip! I’ll definitely have to check that out as I try to get myself organized! I do so much better when I have a plan and a to-do list to check things off!

How are those cute little girls of yours!?

As for memorizing scripture, I find it a lot easier now that I have Adelae to teach them to. I put them to song and then sing it throughout the day. You can even put them to existing melodies. I also place verses in places such as above the sink, washer, bathroom mirror, etc. Now to remember to read them each time I see them :-)

Thomas is really the motivation for me to do almost everything on my goals list. I know that I need to be the best “me” I can be to be the best mommy I can be to him. I’ve read the idea about posting verses around the house, I just need to DO IT!! Do you just pick verses as you go that seem relevant?

  3. I try not to watch any tv during the day either. Because I like background noise sometimes I listen to Pandora. Pandora has a Toddler station that is great for sing-a-longs… Especially since I have forgotten so many of the words. And because ML has a desire for us all to learn Spanish we have a Dora the Explora station. After a while you really don’t miss the tv. Especially with blogging… That’s normally what I do while she is sleeping.

Hey Krystle! I’m gonna have to check out Pandora! I’m having to use internet with my phone as a hotspot, so I have a data limit (boo for living 5 houses “too far out” for internet!). We do have some Cedarmont Kids CDs I could play though. I like to have noise in the background as well!

We are gonna be in your neck of the woods soon! I hope to meet Miss Noah!
